Executive Director

Roy Alexander is DLC’s first Executive Director.  A Davidson College graduate, (’64), Roy Alexander has achieved a statewide reputation for his work to preserve and protect the environment.

In addition to his environmental experience, Roy brings a helpful variety of experience to the job. In the past he has served as a high school science teacher and was the Director of Biological and Earth Sciences at Discovery Place. He has been active with the Catawba Lands Conservancy and was an early board member of the DLC.

“Our town’s leaders are committed to the ‘open space’ concept, and we can be helpful by fulfilling our mission of acquiring, stewarding, and teaching about the land in our region.

Our agenda is more challenging than most small conservancies. Yet, with help from our friends and volunteers, the rewards of our successes in open space preservation will make Davidson a most unique place to live,” Alexander says.
