Hundreds Turn Out for Annual Meeting!

Hundreds of attendees enjoyed the Davidson Lands Conservancy’s annual meeting under a crisp autumn sky today at the new Mecklenburg County Park in Davidson.  Our meeting celebrated not only the past year’s accomplishments, but also served to offer a sneak peak of this beautiful 243 acre park.

Attendees enjoyed photography by Russ Gavitt, pine cone crafts, decorating bird houses, and a falconer.  Dr. Pat Peroni of Davidson College led a nature hike, and Dr. Mark Stanback and Taylor Piephoff both led birdwatching hikes.  Exhibits also included ‘Identifying Birds By Sight and Sound’ led by Rob Van Epps and Taylor Piephoff, and ‘What Do Birds Actually Eat?” by Joe Kaestner of Wild Birds Unlimited.

Although temperatures were comfortable, kids gathered around fire pits and roasted marshmallows and enjoyed cider and cookies.  At the conclusion of the annual meeting past Board members were recognized for their contributions, and new Board members and officers were elected.

Thank you for everyone who attended our annual meeting!
