The Carolina Thread Trail celebrated its five-year anniversary, and the completion of its 100th mile of trail, at the West Branch Greenway in Davidson on November 17th.  Attendees enjoyed a cool fall morning, and two hikes following an unveiling of a monument marking this milestone.

Ann Browning, project director of the Thread Trail, spoke to the crowd, as did Mecklenburg County Parks & Recreation Director Jim Garges and Davidson Mayor John Woods.  Several members of the boards of the Davidson Lands Conservancy, Catawba Lands Conservancy, and Davidson Town Commission were present at the event.  Roy Alexander, the Executive Director of the Davidson Lands Conservancy, was singled out for his contributions to preserving the West Branch Wetland.
