Stars Shone Brightly on ‘Saturday in the Park!’

Our 2nd annual ‘Saturday in the Park’ family fun day and campout at Fisher Farm park in Davidson, NC was a rousing success!  Over 100 people joined the Davidson Lands Conservancy for a day of activity, birdwatching, and general enjoyment of nature.

Rob Van Epps of the Davidson Lands Conservancy led participants on a birdwatching hike in the afternoon.  Even though this isn’t the ideal season for birds, Rob and gang spotted or heard over 25 species of birds.

As the sun set, dinners were prepared and families gathered around the campfire to watch a glorious orange sky over the meadow at Fisher Farm.  S’mores were made, a welcome treat on a chilly night.

A meteor shower put on a spectacular display for anyone who happened to be up in the wee hours, and the natural residents of Fisher Farm put on a symphony as Great Horned Owls, Barred Owls, and coyotes called out through the night.

Many thanks to the Town of Davidson and REI for their support of this event.  We look forward to another campout in 2013!
