WOW-Carolina Thread Trail

Posted on 31. Jul, 2018 by in Projects, West Branch Wetland, WOW Past Events

On Sunday afternoon, 7/29, Emma Rose Parker, Program Coordinator for Catawba Lands Conservancy, led an enthusiastic group of hikers on a shady hike to the wetlands of the Western Branch of the Rocky River.  We followed the Carolina Thread Trail from the end of the Greenway that runs through River Run Subdivision, to the dock near the Beaver Pond.

Along the way hikers saw a leopard frog, a chrysalis hanging in a tree, a spider web that was ball-shaped, and beautiful bracket fungus.  At the dock we paused for a moment to simply listen to the sounds of nature:  frogs, buzzing insects, cicadas, and birds.
