A Lunar Eclipse occurs when the earth is between the sun and the moon and the earth’s shadow totally blocks the sun’s light from the moon. Sometimes we see a partial eclipse of the moon if the shadow doesn’t perfectly line up with the moon, but a total Lunar Eclipse will be visible on January 20-21.  This link can give you more precise information about when the eclipse will be visible in our area: https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/in/usa/charlotte

This eclipse is described by some as a Super Blood Moon which has to do with the color of the moon and the fact that it will seem really large because the moon is closer to the earth. Here’s a link that can tell you more about the Super Blood Moon: https://gadgets.ndtv.com/science/news/super-blood-moon-2019-january-20-21-the-last-total-lunar-eclipse-till-2021-1971551

And finally, this moon is a Wolf Moon, which refers to the fact that it is the middle of winter when the Native Americans would hear the wolves howling at the moon.  Many of our moon names come from Native American names that they associated with moons in particular seasons. Besides Native American roots, some of the moon names come from Anglo-Saxon and Germanic roots. Here’s a link to information about moon names for the whole year.
