World of Wonder (WOW), the nature education program sponsored by Woodland Discovery and Davidson Lands Conservancy, is planning a nature outing to see the goats at work.
“Kudzu grows one foot each day, and we’ve all seen the damage it can do. The college had a kudzu problem, and they wanted a chemical-free solution: goats! A herd of goats are eating up the kudzu right now, and we’ve been given the opportunity to access an area of the College that is usually out-of-bounds for the public,” WOW said in an invitation.
Irvin Brawley, retired after serving 40 years as director of grounds at Davidson College, will lead the way to the goats, pointing out other invasive plants along the path. The goats are inside an electric fence, so there will be no touching. But it should be a great outing for children with their families.
WOW is limiting the event to children 6 and over. Please, no strollers and no dogs. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes. Directions and location details will be sent to those who register. Please fill out the attached registration form and email it to Erin Burke at firstname.lastname@example.org. She also is available for questions.
